Benjamin Moore Webster Green: 2027 Color of the Year for Charlotte Homes

Benjamin Moore announced its 2027 Color of the Year today, October 14, 2026, and it’s another green: Webster Green HC-130. Last month Sherwin-Williams went with a light, airy green (we covered it in our post on Sherwin-Williams Celery). Benjamin Moore’s pick is deeper and more grown-up. It’s a mid-tone sage with a cool, slightly blue lean, and it comes from the brand’s Historical Colors collection (that’s what the “HC” in the name stands for).

Here’s what that means for a Charlotte home, and where we think it looks best.

What Webster Green Looks Like

Think of the color of a well-kept boxwood hedge on a cloudy day. It isn’t bright or minty, and it isn’t so dark that it reads as black-green. Benjamin Moore describes it as a balance between the steadiness of blue and the warmth of yellow, and that’s a fair way to put it. In person, it shifts with the light. In a north-facing room it’ll look cooler and moodier. In afternoon sun it warms up and looks more like classic sage.

Because it’s a true mid-tone, it has enough color to make a statement but enough gray in it to sit comfortably next to wood floors, brick, stone and white trim.

Where It Works in a Charlotte Home

Front doors and shutters

Benjamin Moore shows Webster Green on front doors and exterior trim, and that’s one of the easiest ways to try it. A green door looks right at home on red brick, which is everywhere from Myers Park to Matthews, and it pairs well with white or cream siding. It also plays nicely with all the landscaping green around most Charlotte-area homes. A front door is a small project with a big payoff for curb appeal.

Built-ins, trim and cabinets

The brand also highlights the color on built-ins and trim, with lighter neutral walls around it. We like this idea for a living room bookcase, a mudroom bench or a home office. It’s also a strong cabinet color. Deep sage lower cabinets with white or warm wood uppers can update a builder-grade kitchen without a full remodel. Cabinets take careful prep, the right primer and a hard, durable enamel to hold up to daily use, and that’s where hiring a pro pays off.

Full rooms

For a bolder look, Benjamin Moore suggests carrying the color across walls and ceiling, or doing a room in several shades of green. That works well in a dining room, a study or a powder room, where a deeper color feels cozy instead of heavy. In big open-plan spaces with lots of natural light, we’d usually suggest using it as an accent rather than on every wall.

The Rest of the 2027 Palette

Webster Green anchors Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2027 palette of eight colors. The other seven are:

  • White Down OC-131, a soft, creamy white that’s a natural trim and ceiling partner
  • Nelson Blue CW-635, a pale, dusty aqua (the brand shows it on kitchen cabinets and a porch ceiling)
  • Wild Aster 1240, a powdery pink
  • Shakespeare Tan 228, a light ochre
  • Antique Copper 1169, a rusty, earthy orange
  • Durango 2137-30, a tawny olive brown
  • Townsend Harbor Brown HC-64, a deep brown with a purple undertone

The overall feel is warm and a little traditional, with dusky pastels and earthy browns instead of stark grays. If your home still has a lot of cool gray from the last decade, this palette is a good roadmap for warming things up without going beige.

Easy Pairings We’d Try

  • Classic: Webster Green on a front door or shutters with White Down on trim
  • Kitchen: Webster Green lower cabinets, White Down walls, brass or black hardware
  • Living room: Shakespeare Tan walls with Webster Green built-ins
  • Bedroom: Wild Aster walls with Webster Green accents for a soft, earthy combo

Before committing, always test a sample on more than one wall and look at it morning, noon and evening. Charlotte light changes a lot between summer and our gray winter days.

Fall Is a Good Time to Paint Indoors

With the holidays coming, a lot of homeowners want a fresh look before family visits. Interior painting and cabinet painting aren’t tied to the weather, and the cooler, drier fall air helps paint cure well. Front doors and exterior trim can still be painted on suitable fall days, too.
